McDowell Legacy Program: Interview with George Zeigler
Full Agenda: [none]
George Zeigler was born in Switzerland, but grew up mainly in Scotland. His parents worked in textiles (a silk mill). George remembers his father building them an air raid shelter in their back yard during WWII and hearing the Russian planes flying overhead and the sirens going off. The factory where George's father worked was a target because they produced parachute material. George grew up and became a colorist in a silk mill himself and his job eventually brought him to Old Fort Finishing for a while. George liked the area and moved here to stay.
