Cobb's Public Library hosts Coming of Age event
Cobb's public library system recently hosted the Coming of Age in Marietta: Conversations with the Marietta's Elite Social Club forum. The event was a round-table discussion about Cobb history through the eyes of 'Elite Social Club' members, a social club of African American women that started more than 50 years ago. The members outgrew their initial intent as a sewing club. In a society and time that did not permit African Americans to join social clubs, the ladies blossomed into friends who provided each other strength and encouragement.
