James Lindsey grew up poor, his mother was a single parent to six children. After high school a former teacher helped and encouraged James to try and go to barber school because he could not afford to go to college. Eventually his mother and uncle were able to save the money to send him barber school. James Lindsey has worked as a barber in McDowell County ever since and owns "The House of James" barber shop.
