McDowell Legacy Program: Interview with Max Woody
Max Woody's mother worked at Clinchfield Mill in Marion and his father was permanently crippled while working a job with the railroad, and was never able to work again. Max says his family lost everything they had, their home, car, bank account. Around this time the Great Depression hit and Max was born. Although there was a lot to endure, his family survived. Hear how Max came from a family of skilled craftsmen and how he got his start in chair making.
