Virginia McNeil Padgett's dad, Joe McNeil, started Marion Machine Shop in 1932. Mr. McNeil built the first front end loader. Joe McNeil was later commissioned to go to Oak Ridge, Tennessee to work on the Manhattan Project. Mr. McNeil designed the firing pin that was used in the Little Boy Atomic Bomb.
